Aircraft Mechanics Fraternal Association Announces Agreement In Principle with Southwest Airlines For the Facility Maintenance Technicians
AURORA, Colo. – September 2, 2016 – After over three years of negotiations, yesterday, the AMFA Negotiating Committee reached an Agreement In Principle (AIP) with Southwest Airlines (SWA) on the initial contract for the Facilities Maintenance Technicians. This provides a framework where one did not exist before including union security and job protections.
“Our Negotiating Committee has worked hard over these past few years,” said Earl Clark, Committee Chair, “and now it’s time for the affected members to review what we’ve accomplished and determine if it meets their needs and expectations.”
The Negotiating Committees are working together to finalize the cover-to-cover agreement before sending to the National Executive Council (NEC) for a final review, and ultimately a decision to send to the membership for a vote. A timeline will be announced at a later date.
